Important Dates

Students interested in applying for the GEAR UP Guarantee program have two pathways to apply, each with different deadlines and different scholarship opportunities. The earlier set of deadlines opens up additional opportunities for Appalachian scholarships, whereas the later set of deadlines gives more time for students to apply, but limits the eligibility for certain Appalachian Scholarships. More information on how to apply for Appalachian Scholarships can be found here. The two options are listed below.

Option #1

November 1st 2020: Applications submitted by November 1st correspond with the same deadline for the following Appalachian scholarships.  More details for each scholarship and their required materials can be accessed through the following links:

November 15th 2020: All Supporting Materials Due

Option #2

December 1st 2020: Extended Application Deadline

December 15th 2020: All Supporting Materials Due

Students meeting the GEAR UP Guarantee requirements can anticipate an admission decision within two to six weeks after completing the application for admission.

Students that do not  meet the requirements of the GEAR UP Guarantee will still be considered for admission and are encouraged to apply as early as possible as Appalachian holistically reviews each application for admission. We encourage all students to discuss their individual college goals and pathways with a school counselor or college advisor.
