Clubs or sports activities you participated in college:

I played intramural sports in college: Volleyball, Basketball and Softball. I was also a Resident Hall Program Manager where I organized special events and social opportunities for students living in the residence halls on campus. While obtaining my masters degree I was a graduate assistant in the housing department where I helped maintain admissions and access through digital security.

Why should students in the Appalachian region consider post secondary education?

My time in a postsecondary environment was honestly the most engaging, fun and educational experience I've had. I made so many new friends and strengthened the friendships that traveled with me from high school to Kent State University. My postsecondary experience taught me a lot about self-reliance and independence, prepared me for a career and gave me a lifetime of incredible memories.

What is one piece of advice you might be able to offer a middle or high school student?

Don't take your time in middle and high school for granted, think about your future. The world moves very quickly and you want to have the time you need to make big decisions and feel confident in the direction you choose for your life.
